Access Partner Scholarships
FEA’s Access Partners join in the shared commitment to increase the number of American college students studying abroad through the provision of scholarships. As members of the FEA Access Advisory Board (AAB), our Access Partners collaborate, share best practices in international education, and actively engage in FEA’s mission.
FEA scholarship applicants participating on programs hosted by providers in our Access Partner program may be eligible for financial support of up to $5,000.
Named and Dedicated Scholarships
Named and Dedicated scholarships are established by generous donors who are invested in the success of American students abroad. These scholarships may sometimes be restricted to students who meet certain requirements, such as a particular major or study abroad destination.

Applicants pursuing AIFS Abroad programming who meet FEA’s eligibility requirements could receive up to $5,000 for a semester abroad, and may be eligible to receive an additional $500 grant used towards an AIFS Abroad program.

FEA scholarship applicants interested in Barcelona SAE’s programming who meet FEA’s eligibility requirements could receive up to $5,000 per semester (summer awards start at $1,000).

The Breakout Scholarship for Community College Students will be awarded to a deserving student who attends a U.S. community college and plans to study abroad in the summer. David & Susan Parry Founders Scholarship
Named for FEA Founder and Chairman Emeritus, David T. Parry, and his wife, Susan, this scholarship honors Dave’s dedication to educational travel and equity. Owner of Academic Travel Abroad with his wife and business partner, Susan, for forty years, Dave continued to lead educational travel tours through the Swiss Alps and elsewhere well into his 80s. In 2010, Dave and his team founded the Fund for Education Abroad to increase opportunities for underrepresented U.S. college students to study abroad through scholarship. We honor Dave’s wisdom, spirit, and legacy with the establishment of David & Susan Parry Founders Scholarship to ensure the continuation of exchange and exploration for the next generation of Americans.

Applicants pursuing programming in Ireland who meet FEA’s eligibility requirements could receive a tuition waiver (valued between $5,000 and $7,500 USD) or a scholarship of $5,000.

Gateway International Group Education Abroad Scholarship
The Gateway International Group Education Abroad Scholarship will provide between $1,000 to $10,000. All U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. are eligible to apply.
Hilary Echo Douglas Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to one student each year planning to study abroad in Vietnam or within other Southeast Asian cultures. The scholarship was established in memory of Hiliary Echo Douglas, a study abroad advocate, beloved daughter, wife, mother, and colleague who passed away in 2008. In 1999, Hiliary traveled to Vietnam with a Fulbright Fellowship to investigate modern theatre in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. After two more years working for various international cultural collaborations in Vietnam, Hiliary joined CET Academic Programs as the Vietnam Immersion Resident Director. The Hiliary Echo Douglas scholarship will be given to a student who demonstrates Hiliary’s love for Vietnam, her desire to give back to the world community, and her contagious love for life. All U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. are eligible to apply.
IFSA-University of Sydney Access Partner Scholarship
The IFSA-USYD scholarship provides a tuition waiver and round-trip airfare valued at over $10,000 combined! Recipients MUST study abroad through IFSA at the University of Sydney for a semester to be eligible for this scholarship.
J. Scott Van Der Meid Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is established in memory of J. Scott Van Der Meid, a long-time supporter of FEA, and beloved husband, son, colleague, and friend. Scott’s experiences studying abroad as a high school student in Germany and as an undergraduate in Japan were formative. Scott was a pioneer in developing advising strategies to support underrepresented students, for example the LGBTQ community and students of diverse ethnic, cultural and faith backgrounds. He influenced positive change in the field of international education, both at Brandeis University where he worked as Associate Dean of Study Abroad, and as a dedicated volunteer to numerous boards, advisory councils, and committees of educational organizations and institutions.
In honor of Scott, his family, friends, and colleagues are establishing this scholarship to continue his legacy of advocating for underrepresented students and increasing diversity in study abroad. All U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. are eligible to apply.

Malú Alvarez Global Access Scholarship
This scholarship will endow five semester scholarships to be awarded each year for study in any country of the students’ choosing. This gift is part of FEA’s “Bringing the World Home” comprehensive campaign, launched in 2017. Martha and Jeff Johnson Scholarship
This scholarship is generously funded by Martha and Jeff Johnson. All U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. are eligible to apply.
NAFSA Tamara H. Bryant Memorial Scholarship
FEA will award these funds to African-American undergraduate students in the United States who hope to study abroad, and who also embody Mrs. Bryant’s spirit of resilience and commitment to intercultural exchange, per her endowment purposes. Applicants must be enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S.
Tamara H. Bryant, who immigrated to the United States from Rangoon, Burma in the 1960s, established an endowment at NAFSA to foster intercultural exchange through the provision of scholarships. Bryant left Burma during World War II as a refugee, traveling more than 1,500 miles to India by foot, and eventually settled in the United States. Through her journey in life, Mrs. Bryant came to realize the difficulties women faced in reaching their potential in the workplace – particularly, women of color in her newly adopted country. With the recognition of these challenges, her endowment was established at NAFSA to assist promising, globally-minded students in achieving their career goals.

Semester at Sea is a unique opportunity to travel around the world as an undergraduate, gap year, graduate student, or a lifelong learner with a cruise ship as your campus and an ever-changing scenery as your view. On board the MV World Odyssey, our seven deck, 590-foot ship, you will have the opportunity to select from 70-72 courses across a wide range of disciplines. In one semester, you will get exposure to 8-12 countries across at least 3 continents, earn 12-15 credits from Colorado State University, and transit over 20,000 nautical miles.

The Cyril Taylor Memorial Scholarship for Study in the UK
All U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. are eligible to apply.
About Sir Cyril Taylor
The scholarship is named after the late Sir Cyril Taylor who spent his life bringing the world together through education and policy as a part of numerous organizations. In 1964, Sir Cyril helped found AIFS, a leading educational organization providing cultural exchange and academic opportunities for more than 1.5 million young people. He also worked for Proctor & Gamble, served on the board for the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, and served as High Sherriff of Greater London. Born in Yorkshire, England, Sir Cyril was very active in public service and received a number of honors for his work. He was appointed Knight Bachelor in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 1989 for services to education and was advanced to a Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (GBE) in the 2004 New Year’s Honours list.
